Synaptics is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. As a part of the Central product team, you will work on our Audio/Video SOC products in an exciting and dynamic transformational environment. This role reports to the Director, Design Verification.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $157,000 - $247,500 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Job Duties

  • Develop ARM based low level drivers and diagnostics test programs in C
  • Design and carry out SOC bandwidth and power profiling studies
  • Execute and debug test program and capture waveforms on both pre-silicon hardware emulation environment
  • Perform failure analysis through protocol exerciser, logic analyzer, and high-speed scope on post-silicon platform
  • Define and execute validation plan
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of automation tools, and implement and refine for increases efficiency
  • Support SOC products from inception through mass-production

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent
  • 12 years of experience in embedded system software, firmware development, and validation
  • Strong C programming skill; Familiar with ARM assembly and embedded system programming
  • Understand SDIO, USB2/3, Ethernet, RGMII, and PCIE protocol
  • Familiar with ARM Architecture, MMU, GIC, and DMA concept
  • Experience on low level driver development, PHY level tuning, and silicon validation
  • Experience on pre-silicon verification on hardware emulator and FPGA
  • Minimal travel (up to 2 weeks per year)
