Synaptics is looking for a Staff ESD engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing measures to prevent and mitigate electrostatic discharge events in electronic systems and components. This position reports to the Senior ESD Manager.

Job Duties

  • Provide ESD design guidelines for new chip and revision
  • Establish ESD/LU test plan and lead ESD testing for products
  • Perform chip level ESD review and simulation
  • Develop new ESD cells to meet chip ESD specification
  • Collaborate with foundry/EDA vendor for ESD requirement
  • ESD/EOS failure analysis and solution

Competencies

  • Familiar with silicon HV/MV/LV ESD device structure and layout rules
  • Strong understanding of ESD device characteristics
  • Familiar with design/layout tools, including Virtuoso, Calibre.
  • Knowledge of ESD checking tools like PERC
  • Familiar with ESD/LUP test and test plan establishment
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
  • Strong team player with the ability to work within a diverse team

Qualification

  • Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent
  • 8 years experience in analog design with 5 years focus on product ESD design
  • Familiar with GPIO/fail-safe IO design and simulation
  • Must be experienced in product ESD/EOS failure analysis and solution
  • FinFET ESD development experience is a plus
  • RF chip ESD review experience is a plus
  • System/Module level ESD and surge testing experience is a plus
  • Must possess good English communication and documentation skills is must
  • Minimal travel up to 10%
