Synaptics is looking for an experienced Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our team. You will work within the IT business application engineering support team at Synaptics to support multiple software development team and help drive the development and delivery of new product. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Global Enterprise Applications. 

Job Duties 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate and scale our infrastructure for CI/CD
  • Manage and maintain our AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and security
  • Set up, configure, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CloudBees CI, Git, Gitlab, Gerrit Git, Jenkins, or other relevant tools to automate the software deployment process
  • Work with Docker and Kubernetes to manage containerized applications and services on AWS and also using AWS container services
  • Develop and maintain Groovy scripts for customizing and automating CI/CD pipelines and processes
  • Support and manage and maintain Jenkins for Android SDK development team and other software and firmware development teams
  • Integrate DevOps processes with Jira, Confluence, Code Collaborator, Jama, and other collaboration and project management tools to streamline workflows
  • Implement and maintain reporting tools to provide insights into the DevOps pipeline, performance, and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain automation hooks and triggers to ensure smooth interaction between different stages of the CI/CD pipeline
  • Implement security best practices, including monitoring, logging, and access controls, to ensure a secure and compliant environment for software development teams
  • Collaborate with software development teams, understanding the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and providing DevOps support at every stage
  • Monitor system performance and respond to incidents, fine-tuning the environment for optimal performance
  • Maintain and update documentation for infrastructure, deployment processes, and best practices
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and challenges as they arise

Competencies 

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools, including CloudBees CI, Git, Gitlab, Gerrit Git, Jenkins, and similar
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Solid scripting and automation skills, using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell; Proficient in Groovy scripting
  • Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex issues through practical use of technology
  • Exhibit great communication skills to work closely with cross-functional teams and convey complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus
  • 5 years of experience in DevOps or related roles
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, puppet, or others
  • Solid experience working with AWS EKS and related AWS services
  • Experience in Android SDK development and build
  • Hands-on experience using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS containers)
  • No travel required
