Overview

Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff System Design Architect with strong analog and digital expertise to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for the design and architecture of our touch and fingerprint products. We are looking for a self-motivated experienced engineer to work closely with our silicon, system, and application teams to drive new product innovation, design, and development. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, System Architecture.

Responsibilities & Competencies

Job Duties

  • Define products, and architectures for human interface devices
  • Design and lead implementation of system solutions for touch and fingerprint products
  • Work with cross-functional teams to introduce new products, ensure good yield and manufacturability
  • Drive system design evaluation and characterization
  • Partner with teams to create module and system-level verification test protocols for new devices - execute plans in collaboration with internal and vendor-based teams
  • Leverage consumer product experience to identify potential production issues and implement steps to mitigate risks
  • Validate platform hardware and support product integration teams. Perform rigorous design reviews with vendors and internal engineering teams.

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree (or masters) in Electrical Engineering or related filed or equivalent
  • 12 years of expertise in system design
  • Deep background in transistor-level analog/mixed circuit design
  • Knowledge and experience of capacitive touch-based technology and their applications and related product design including touchpad and fingerprint reader.
  • Hands-on experience in sensor analog front-end design including low noise amplifier, switched capacitor circuits, filter, & ADC (low power/high resolution)
  • Experience in I2C, SPI, USB, or other protocol communications
  • Excellent PCB layout design experience for PI, SI, ESD, EMC and noise concern
  • Familiarity with Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Spectrum, Network Analyzer and hardware circuit design tool such as DxDesigner, Pads, Allegro
  • Prior roles as a lead hardware engineer in mobile phone design, notebook PC design, or mixed signal ASIC design is a plus
  • Experience in haptic technology is beneficial
  • Familiar with NFC testing and wireless RF knowledge is a plus
  • No travel required
