Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. System Validation Engineer to join our dynamic and growing PC organization. You will be responsible for the qualification of touch and fingerprint products. We are looking for a highly motivated, engineer to work closely with our silicon, systems and applications teams to drive quality improvements in new products. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, System Architecture.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
Conduct validation testing of touchpad and fingerprint recognition systems to ensure they meet quality standards and performance requirements
Develop comprehensive test plans and protocols for validating touchpad and fingerprint technologies, considering various use cases and environmental factors
Analyze test data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize touchpad and fingerprint recognition algorithms
Identify and troubleshoot issues related to touchpad and fingerprint functionality, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions
Prepare detailed documentation of validation procedures, test results, and findings to support product development and regulatory compliance efforts
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish quality standards and ensure adherence to industry regulations and best practices
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to touchpad and fingerprint validation, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization
Competencies
Good understanding of reliability testing methodologies, such as HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening)
Familiar with data collection and analysis software (Excel, Python)
Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
Resourceful and able to solve problems through practical use of technology and a solid understanding of product architecture

Qualifications (Requirements)
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical, Engineering, Information Engineering or related field or equivalent
Certification in quality management systems (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001) is a plus.
5 years of experience testing and qualifying consumer products with more than 1 year of expertise in system validation
Prior experience operating equipment related to reliability testing (ESD, Temperature chamber, ball drop test etc.)
Knowledge and experience of capacitive touch-based technologies and their applications and related product system/reliability validation including touchpad and fingerprint reader
Experience in I2C, SPI, USB signal measurement and verification
Experience in consumer electronics product verification and reliability testing
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to touchpad and fingerprint validation (e.g., FCC, CE, RoHS)
