Overview
The Synaptics Wi-Fi team is looking for a highly skilled Wi-Fi Driver/Firmware Developer to join our team and contribute to the development and enhancement of our wireless networking products. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a global team working to create revolutionary products. In this role, you will be working in the Wi-Fi Software Engineering team responsible for Wi-Fi driver design and development to productize the latest generation of IoT Wi-Fi products. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Wi-Fi driver design and development to productize the latest generation of IoT WLAN products
- Design and develop cutting edge Wi-Fi features and 802.11 upper mac protocols
- Firmware development in an RTOS environment and network device driver development on Linux
- Low level hardware bringup, troubleshooting and resolve firmware-related and host driver issues on Linux/RTOS environments
- Work closely with Wi-Fi MAC, Systems, Silicon and QA teams for pre-tapeout qualification, silicon bring-up, feature development and in optimizing the performance of Wi-Fi chips
- Lead work on various Software lifecycle components including requirements analysis, design, implementation, qualification and production release
Competencies
- Strong understanding of Wi-Fi protocol concepts
- Solid understanding of Software system architecture and Embedded Systems
- Strong C Programming skills
- Linux Kernel Programming and in-depth understanding of OS/RTOS concepts
- Excellent debugging and analytical abilities
- Hands on experience in collecting Wi-Fi sniffer traces and analyzing
- Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
- Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
- Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
- Good verbal and written communication skills, in English
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse cross-functional team
Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Electronics Engineering or related field or equivalent
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience
- Strong proficiency in C programming language
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- In-depth knowledge of Wi-Fi protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
- Hands on experience working with Wi-Fi host drivers and device firmware
- No travel required
