Overview
Synaptics is looking for Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for WLAN/BT hardware tasks related to chipset bringup and performance optimization, including hardware and RF related data collection, performance fine tuning, and co-work with other design function teams. This position reports to the Director, Development Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
Develop detailed test plans to signal integrity, and connectivity for all phases of product testing and certification including bench, certification lab
Responsible for delivering regulatory and commercial certifications for connectivity such as FCC, Wi-Fi Alliance, BT SIG
Partner with development engineers to debug and diagnose issues
Work cross functionally with other Validation and Test teams to troubleshoot issues and review test plans
Assist in developing libraries test cases using Python framework
Competencies
Specification level understanding of at least one wireless technology such as cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
Previous product experience in WiFi or BT technologies
Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance
Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
Ability to work with dynamic, geographically distributed teams, with the passion to become part of cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure testability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications(Requirements)
Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent
8+ years of experience in Consumer, or related industries that involve embedded systems with cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Experience with system test, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of wireless hardware at the PCB and module level
Deep understanding of system level RF parametric (P1dB, Psat, NF, SNR, EVM, etc.) and the impact they have on the overall system
Experience with regression testing and ability to track issues through product cycles
Track record of presenting to both technical teams and product level teams at the appropriate level of details
