Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Application Engineer who is ready to take on the challenge of joining our talented team, driving technical excellence, and delivering high-quality AI solutions to our clients worldwide. Our team specializes in developing cutting-edge vision and audio-based applications that revolutionize various industries by enabling capabilities such as human presence detection in the mass production PC market. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Lead project teams to ensure successful project execution and professional development
- Collaborate with the internal development team to create and customize AI solutions that meet specific customer requirements
- Provide technical support for the implementation and integration of complex AI solutions, specifically in vision-based applications such as human presence detection
- Work with various hardware components, including sensors and embedded systems, to support AI applications
- Drive measurement, debugging, firmware loading, logging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of AI systems
- Design and execute rigorous testing and validation of applications to ensure they meet performance standards and customer expectations
- Partner closely with customers to understand their technical needs, provide solutions, and address any issues that arise during the implementation phase
- Gather feedback from customers and internal teams to identify areas for improvement and work with the development team to implement enhancements
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, integration guides, and troubleshooting guides for AI solutions

Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in an application engineer role or similar technical role (previous experience in a team lead preferred)
- Strong experience with hardware components and embedded systems with high proficiency in measurements, debugging, firmware loading, logging, and troubleshooting
- Strong track record of problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Experience in providing high-quality technical support and building strong customer relationships
- Hands-on experience in deploying vision-based AI solutions involved with cameras and computer vision highly desired
- Collaborative and innovative work culture with opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth
- Occasional travel up to 10% may be required for customer site visits and support
