Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Staff Field Applications Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for providing pre-sales and technical support for our growing wireless business. This position reports to the Manager, Field Applications Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Collaborate with local sales and other groups within the company to get customer project design-wins by providing technical support to customers, identifying customer needs, providing technical solutions and helping them understand the company's PC products and how to integrate them into their systems or applications
- Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the capabilities and benefits of the company's products
- Work with key PC OEM customers and internal engineering teams on the mechanical design of company’s PC products including Clickpad, Forcepad, FingerPrint Sensor, etc.
- Responsible for customer system integration of company’s products
- Support ODM/module maker for mechanical design
- Develop in-depth expertise in the company's products and stay abreast of the latest developments and features
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their unique needs and challenges
- Gather customer feedback on the company's products, features, and performance, and share this information with internal teams for product improvement

Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent
- 8 years of mechanical engineering experience in PC product; experience in PC OEM, ODM, module maker is preferable
- Strong understanding of PC systems, module design and system integration
- Touchpad/Clickpad/Forcepad related product system design experience is preferable
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience taking projects from initial design conception to mass production
- Experience in technical sales or customer support
- Frequent travel to customer sites and industry events required
