Overview 

Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff Verification Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will develop verification solutions for complex Processor, Edge AI and Multimedia SoC semiconductor products. This role will develop SoC/Sub-system/IP verification environments, create and execute verification plans for new and innovative SoCs. You will work closely with design, emulation and software teams to create, develop, and execute verification plans for SoC for Edge AI and Multimedia product lines. This position reports to the Director, Design Verification. 

 

 

Responsibilities & Competencies 

Job Duties

  • Plan and Develop verification infrastructure to execute the SOC verification

  • Create verification plans for Sub-system/SOC from high level product requirements and Design Documents

  • Planning and Executing Gate Level simulation

  • Support Emulation and Pre and Post Silicon validation

  • Technically lead the team verification for Sub-system and IP level verification

  • Mentor developing team members in debugging and capability building for SoC verification

 

Competencies 

  • Deep understanding and working experience in UVM, HVL (SystemVerilog, SystemC), HDL (Verilog), C/C++ and scripts (perl, shell)

  • Well versed with Industry Standard Verification Methodologies with good understanding of state of art verification technologies i.e. coverage and assertion based, formal verification and HW assisted verification 

  • Good understanding of SoC buses and CPU cores i.e. ARM, AHB, AXI or similar CPU and buses

  • Excellent debugging and analytical skils

  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance

  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate

  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas

  • Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through adaptation of existing technology and investigation of new technology to resolve complex problems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex design issues to respective IP/SoC design teams

  • Ability to work within diverse, geographically distributed teams, with the passion to become part of cross-functional teams 

 

Qualifications (Requirements) 

  • Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field or equivalent

  • 12+ years of experience in SoC and/or IP verification

  • Proven track record of delivering robust IP/SoC verification solutions for complex SoC products in the semiconductor industry

  • Demonstrated experience in SoC verification i.e. developing and maintaining SOC verification environment, preparing and executing test plan for state of art SOCs

  • Prior experience in verification of Image/Video Processing, WLAN, Video/Audio Interface (HDMI, MIPI DSI, MIPI CSI-2, DisplayPort etc.), Standard Interface (USB, Ethernet, PCIe etc) and Compression/de-compression Ips

  • Hands on experience with set up and execution of timing simulations

  • Knowledge of MBIST, JTAG, SCAN and IDDQ, including vector translation from standard formats to ATE-compatible vector

  • Hands on experience in Industry standard simulation & debugging tools i.e. Questa/VCS and Verdi etc 

  • No travel required
