Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Director, Supplier and Customer Quality - PC Modules to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for driving quality for our PC Module business and bringing a zero-defect culture and mindset. Your passion for quality will ensure that Synaptics will be rated best in class in quality by our customers. You will ensure that our suppliers meet our highest quality standards by tracking performance and making continuous process improvements. Additionally, you will drive customer quality issues to closure, ensure all corrective actions are implemented in a timely fashion and conduct periodic supplier audits. This position reports to the VP, Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of passionate customer quality and supplier quality engineers to foster a culture of excellence.
- Drive zero-defect culture and mindset at our suppliers by diligently working with them to ensure they meet our high-quality standards.
- Demonstrate urgency to drive suppliers to resolve customer product quality issues
- Lead Quality QBRs with the Tier 1 customers and establish strong working relationship with customers.
- Use data to influence both internal and external customers at the Executive management level on quality issues to implement corrective actions.
- Establish KPIs and lead the generation of reports to analyze supplier performance data (Supplier delivery, DPPM, excursions, Cp, CpK etc.,).
- Audit of supplier performance to ensure that they are following quality standards and meet Synaptics quality requirements.
- Champion implementing best quality practices across suppliers and CMs based on lessons learned.
- Utilize SPC, APQP, FMEA, Gage R&R, Six Sigma and Lean Concepts to drive supplier improvements.
- Ensure Change management reporting with tools such as Agile and Confluence.
- Review new product designs and provide feedback to the design team in order to proactively improve quality.
- Use predictive quality methodologies to identify trends and take actions for improvements.
Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of PC modules, PCB manufacturing, components, and materials.
- Experienced at driving Failure Analysis (FA) processes to quickly close issues while providing exceptional customer communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers at the executive level and manage relationships with Quality organizations.
- Ability to build, lead, and motivate a diverse team: Achieves focus on key priorities, provides clear direction, delegates, actively communicates, coaches, and holds fellow team members accountable.
- Ability to influence and lead through change and motivated by the challenge of a fast-paced, high-growth global environment.
- The ability to balance multiple competing priorities, with very strong attention to detail.
- Able to solve problems that are not clearly defined and require in depth understanding of technology and organizational objectives.
- Establishes clear expectations, sets objectives and brings multiple parties together to drive key initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skill in both English and Mandarin that is clear, concise, and compelling
- Experienced at working effectively across an organization and building successful cross functional partnerships
Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s is a plus) in Engineering, Physics, Science or related field or equivalent
- 15+ years of experience in Supplier quality, Customer Quality or Component Quality Engineering.
- Experience with foundry and OSAT quality a plus.
- AS9100/ISO9001 or IATF16949 quality system and process audit experience required
- APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) experience required
- Domestic and international travel up to 25% required
