Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Field Applications Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for WIFI/BT/GNSS technical support in the China IOT market, including the critical tasks of creating and winning new design-ins for key market segments/applications by offering and leveraging Synaptics full wireless solutions. You will actively collaborate with the demand creation team to achieve aggressive market share gain for the Company. This position reports to the Director, Sales.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Collaborate with local sales to get customer project design-wins via project proposals, product demonstrations, solution discussions, and design reviews
- Collect internal function team’s output and meet customer project requirements on time, including troubleshooting of technical issues
- Provide technical support for Synaptics full portfolio of WPD products to customers and Channel Partners, assist customers with SDK integration, bring-up, and HW/SW related troubleshooting & testing on various platforms and OS
- Lead effort for demand creation, qualify and manage opportunities via project proposals, product demo, solution discussion to achieve design-win goals
- Provide training to disti team and publish application notes as applicable
- Develop solid understanding of the company's products and stay abreast of the new developments and features
- Develop relationships with customers, understanding their unique needs and challenges
- Gather customer feedback on the company's products, features, and performance, and share this information with internal teams
Competencies
- Strong wireless technical background, good knowledge of Wifi/BT/GNSS/Thread technologies, deep understanding in IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax protocols
- Knowledge in PCIE/SDIO/UART/SPI protocols and troubleshooting
- Good system level view for opportunities for Synaptics products
- Innovative to drive new design and new solutions
- Proactive, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
- Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
- Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
- Excellent verbal and written (in English) communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to work within a diverse, global team
Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electromagnetic Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field or equivalent
- 5 years of technical support experience in wearable product; experience in iot OEM, ODM, module maker is preferable
- Demonstrated proficiency in WIFI/BT/GNSS driver porting on different platforms and OS, including rich experience in troubleshooting of various field issues such as throughput, co-existence and interference issues
- Hands-on experience with Android/Linux/RTOS architecture and kernel development including driver, hal layer, stack and framework
- Extensive field application support experience: Broadcom wireless product supporting experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience taking projects from initial design conception to mass production
- Experience in technical sales or customer support
- Travel up to 25% to customer sites and industry events required
