Overview 
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff Network Systems Administrator to join our team. You will be responsible for the daily support and development of Network Infrastructure systems at Synaptics. This role works closely with IT teams to ensure seamless network operations and support business needs. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Network Systems.
 
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
  • Design and deploy end-to-end network solutions based on business requirements
  • Remote network support & end-to-end troubleshooting for Synaptics locations
  • Daily administration of production network environment
  • Proactive monitoring of network system availability, performance, and auto-generated events
  • Network configuration management and patch management of network equipment
  • Enable and audit network configuration as part of deployment process
  • Documentation of network topologies, inventories, new processes/procedures
  • Work with the other IT teams on special projects as required
  • Participate in the R&D of new IT technology
 
Competencies
  • Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.) and network hardware
  • Deep understanding of network security including security protocols, access control, firewalls, and risk assessment
  • Deep understanding of protocols/technologies including IPv4/IPv6, Wi-Fi, TACACS+, RADIUS, NAT, IPSEC, DSCP, DHCP, DNS, NTP, STP, VTP, VLAN, LACP, HSRP, VRRP, SNMP, NetFlow
  • Strong understanding of Network HW & SW tools: Cisco Routers & Switches, Arista Routers & Switches, Juniper SRX, Palo Alto Firewall, Load Balancers, Wireshark, Netbox, Nagios/CheckMK, Ansible 
  • Strong customer focused approach
  • Strong project management skills with experience defining business requirements, investigating technical solutions, developing cost analysis, and definition of best practices
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to adapt effectively and rapidly to changing environments and situations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of infrastructure
  • Strong verbal, and written communication, documentation, and presentation skills in English and Mandarin with the ability to work within a diverse team
 
Qualifications (Requirements)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer information Systems or related field or equivalent
  • Certifications: Cisco or Juniper Certification – CCNP at minimum, CCIE/JNCIE preferred; CCIE/JNCIE Routing and Switching, AWS Certified Advanced Networking
  • 12+ years of experience administering corporate networks across multiple sites including network troubleshooting and performance optimization on Windows & Linux environments
  • Hands-on experience with administration of (Cisco / Juniper / Arista) routing/switching platforms
  • Experience with Linux CLI as related to network troubleshooting
  • Experience with NMS solutions, SNMP, NetFlow & syslog monitoring
  • Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP end-to-end across firewalls
  • Experience with WAN routing involving configuration and troubleshooting of OSPF and BGP)
  • Experience with LAN switching and related technologies
  • Track record of project managing medium to large cross-functional projects
  • Prior experience with supporting and troubleshooting wireless networking environment including network connectivity and configuration for AWS and/or OCI
  • No travel required
